O’Toole Awarded BRC

O’Toole Transport has been awarded BRC (British Retail Consortium) Storage & Distribution Accreditation for food products stored at and distributed from its centre in Galway. The BRC Global Standard is used by certification bodies across the world to enable suppliers to achieve globally recognised standards for food products and to ensure that best practice is established and maintained.

To achieve certification, O’Toole Transport was audited and scored by independent assessors on the standard of storage and distribution of ambient, chilled and frozen food products and associated food packaging, product inspection, quality controlinspection and the chilling, freezing and defrosting of food products.

The former Fleet Transport Haulier of the Year, O’Toole Transport oversees multi-temperature storage and 3,000 weekly pallet movements. The company currently employs in excess of 70 people. O’Toole Transport operates its own fleet of 50 vehicles with 70 temperature-controlled trailers and works with some of the world’s biggest food industry brands such as Musgrave, Marine Harvest, Total Produce, Connaught Gold plus 120 other food companies throughout Europe.

“Although we are already working for market leaders in the food manufacturing area, achieving this standard means that we are now in a stronger position to widen our portfolio of customers”, explains Mary O’Toole, Finance Director.

Commenting on being awarded BRC accreditation, Managing Director, Laurence O’Toole said, “the BRC award is great news for us and further endorses our increasing reputation as one of the major players in the food supply chain industry”.
